The Best Safelists for May 2011

Greetings and welcome to May!

Let’s hope this month brings a few more flowers and a lot less showers.

The big story this month is… List Bonus!  This new viral list builder quietly launched at the start of last month.  I say quietly because the site had been actively promoted for a few months prior to this as part of the beta testing so when the site officially launched there wasn’t much excitement surrounding it.

List Bonus is rocking!  Lots of sign-ups and very few emails in my inbox.  Check my stats below and you will understand why I am so excited about this one.

Viral Mail Profits is also starting to do really well.  This is the safelist and viral list builder organizer that just added it’s own mailer.  This is a unique mailer with some cool functions.  I have been spending a few extra credits when sending my ads to make people answer a survey question about my page.   This forces people to actually look at my page and gets me some valuable feedback as well.  So far, it is working great.

Ok, let’s get to the stats.

As usual I need to throw out a few disclaimers.  First, these are my stats based on my advertising efforts.  I am advertising my squeeze pages that promote my Safelist Marketing Tactics ebook.  Also, I do have upgraded accounts on most of these sites which sometimes allow me to mail more often than free members.  Your mileage may vary.

Total sign-ups in April from all safelists and viral list builders (including those not listed here): 209

Ok, here’s the stats…

Hits Unique Subscribers Ratio
List Bonus
1,683 73% 36 2.14%
State of the Art Mailer 3,801 74% 21 0.55%
Viral URL 42 88% 19 45.24%
List Adventure
640 58% 14 2.19%
Downline Builder Direct 1,301 55% 11 0.85%
Viral Mail Profits
545 77% 11 2.02%
List Zillion
445 73% 11 2.47%
The Lead Magnet 1,364 66% 9 0.66%
Elevated Power List
306 60% 7 2.29%
Quick List Profits 723 68% 6 0.83%

Excellent month for safelists and viral list builders!

As I said earlier, List Bonus is definitely the place to be advertising right now.

Nuff said.

Ok, that’s it for this month.  For once I don’t know of any new launches coming up in the near future.  That’s probably good because I have my hands full right now with more than enough safelists and viral list builders.

Remember, my results may be different than your own but the only way you will ever know is if you are tracking your results.  Don’t have a tracker?  Get one for free when you join TE Toolbox.  That’s what I use and it works for me.

  1. I am upgraded on all of those except for List Zillion. I let that one expire early last month because it was kinda pricey and I wasn’t getting great results but now it’s working good for me again even as a free member. Go figure.

  2. Hi Jerry

One stat I would like to see is how many emails, solos, banner and text ads you’re sending out on these.

For example, I see your emails quite regularly on the safeswaps I’m involved in, so I know you’re sending them out daily.

But, for example, how many actual emails are you sending to get 1,683 hits from List Bonus?

This would be helpful as it would give an idea of how much front end work is needed.

  3. Hey Bill.

I can see where that would be helpful but it would also be a lot more work for me to keep track of how many emails I am I sending every day.

I can say that I generally spend the maximum number of allowed credits every day to send my ads every day (or as often is allowed). If a mailer doesn’t send out enough emails for me to earn enough credits then I send to the most I can using the emails I received over the last 24 hours. Anyone doing the same thing should be able to reach roughly the same number of people.

In some cases it doesn’t work out. For example List Bonus doesn’t send enough emails for me to send the maximum but I sometimes earn bonus credits from my referrals. That just makes it even more complicated to keep track of.

Solos, banner and text ads aren’t included in these numbers. I keep those separate.

Hopefully my numbers serve as a guide for which mailers are worth trying. It’s only through your own testing will you discover which ones work best for you.

  4. Just wondering, for most of them did you do the lifetime upgrade? Or do you pay monthly?

  5. If there is a lifetime upgrade I usually grab it. I know I am not going anywhere so as long as the site sticks around it usually saves me a lot of money.

  6. hi Jerry,

I just joined listbonus and wasn’t impressed with the OTO’s. I like to pay for extra mailings not access to training courses! Perfect for newbies but crap for advertisers.

Also they seem to be pushing the angle that you can actually sell at 0.5% conversions and turn a profit this way. Surely they know that this is bad information.

Anyway I’ve joined for free, and will have to make do with the weekly mailing and see how it goes.

Why can’t they have the $10 upgrade like leadmagnet & sotam?

When I finally decide to start my own safelist I’ll price everything at more affordable levels and get more active buyers into the site – better results for everyone that way!

  7. Hey Andrew.

    Thanks for joining!

That’s a good point. I don’t know why most viral list builders are so much more expensive than safelists. Maybe not so much the ones using the same script as The Lead Magnet but the more custom sites like List Joe and The List Auction are pretty expensive. Even SOTAM is expensive if you go for the 7,500 button which costs $49/month.

I think part of it is that some of these programs double as income opportunities. It’s not the primary reason for joining and it’s not pushed very hard but I know I have made more money with List Bonus since it launched than I have with any other program during that time. The fact that I am also getting such a great response from the mailer just makes it a win-win for me.
